FREEYOU NEXT Trains Teachers in Media Literacy to Prepare the Next Generation

In February 2024, the FREEYOU NEXT project trained teachers from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Belgium, equipping them to educate over 200 students on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Media, and Data between October and November 2024. In Portugal, four teachers will lead the training; in Italy, three; in Spain, one; and in Belgium, two. These educators, previously trained by FREEYOU NEXT, will now pass on essential knowledge about these crucial topics to their students, preparing them for the future.

The teacher training, supported by the Media Literacy for All programme from the European Commission, included practical and theoretical sessions on AI, data, and immersive environments. Key topics covered include synthetic media analysis and production and the development of chatbots in virtual reality.

This innovative programme combined live webinars with recorded sessions, offering an integrated approach that prepares teachers to educate the next generation of young people to navigate critically and informed in an increasingly digital world. If you are a teacher and just found out about this initiative, there’s still time to join the FREEYOU NEXT project and get trained to teach AI, Media, and Data responsibly! The training is free and open to all educators looking to prepare their students for the digital challenges of the future.
